III INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS “PROMOTING BRAIN HEALTH THROUGH EXERCISE ACROSS THE LIFESPAN"

Granada 7th-9th OCTOBER 2026

LOGO brain 2026.png

The brain is a complex organ that enables thought, memory, movement, and emotion through highly coordinated functions – the highest product of biological evolution. Brain health refers to the preservation of optimal brain integrity and mental and cognitive function at a given age, in the absence of overt brain diseases that affect normal brain function. Maintaining a healthy brain during one’s life is the uppermost goal in pursuing health and longevity.

Exercise has been shown to benefit brain health, particularly in later life. However, there is still debate about the influence of exercise on brain health throughout the lifespan and in health conditions that are not immediately characterized as neurologic or psychiatric. Thus, the III edition of the Congress “Promoting Brain Health Through Exercise Across The Lifespan" will showcase international perspectives on the effects of exercise and associated predictors on brain health across age groups and health conditions. We will bring together researchers from around the world who will present advances across diverse areas.

We welcome everyone interested in this topic to join us in Granada (Spain), on October 7th-9th, 2026. All attendees will have the opportunity to submit their abstracts and present their work as oral communications or posters during the congress.

Topics

The International Congress will highlight concentrated effort at a national and international level in several key areas related to brain health. The term “Brain Health” can be broadly conceptualized as the optimal or maximal functioning of behavioral and biological measures of the brain and the subjective experiences arising from brain function (e.g., mood). This includes measurements of biological markers of the brain (e.g., structural brain morphology) or the subjective manifestations of brain function, including mood and anxiety, perceptions of quality of life, academic performance, cognitive function (e.g., attention and memory), and sleep.

  1. Lifestyle behaviors, health-related indicators and brain health during infancy, childhood and adolescence.

  2. Lifestyle behaviors, health-related indicators and brain health during adulthood and old age.

  3. Lifestyle behaviors, health-related indicators and brain health in disease conditions.

  4. Mechanisms linking the effects of exercise on brain.

  5. Other topics related to brain health.

We welcome submissions across all study types, including original research, systematic reviews, methodological papers, case reports/series and study protocols

Oral Communications

  • Oral Communications will be 10 mins of on-site presentation and 3 mins of questions.

  • The presentation must be done in English.

  • Abstracts will be grouped by topics and each session will have approx. 3 oral communications, a Chair who will provide comments on the field of research covered in the session highlight particular findings and stimulate Q&A.
